Lawrence Batley Theatre is pleased to be accepted again into Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisation after a competitive application process.
Following Arts Council England’s announcement of their latest National Portfolio Organisations for the years 2023-2026, Lawrence Batley Theatre has maintained its funding level to continue delivering the productions, projects and activities it has been consistently delivering for the last five years. The theatre continues to strive to be the creative heart of Huddersfield as the inhouse team remain bold, ambitious and determined to bring the magic of live performance to Kirklees.
Since joining the National Portfolio Scheme at its inception, Lawrence Batley Theatre has been a key venue in the touring landscape of Great Britain and a key place for staging professional shows across all artforms. As well as working closely with the community to provide excellent support for them to perform on a professional stage right in the centre of Huddersfield.
Becky Atkinson, Chief Executive of Lawrence Batley Theatre, said, "We are so pleased to be granted funding from the Arts Council England again for another three financial years. This vote of confidence from them confirms their trust in our work within our community, as Kirklees is now a Priority Place for investment in the arts. Community is at the heart of everything we do, and this funding will allow us to continue with our mission to make our local people proud of us.”
