All tickets booked at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield are subject to standard terms and conditions. When purchasing tickets, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

General ticket information

  • A transaction fee of £2.50 is taken per transaction to cover the cost of our booking system. As a courtesy, all transaction fees are waived for Lawrence Batley Theatre members. More information can be found here.  £2 of the ticket price paid for certain shows goes to the Lawrence Batley Theatre building improvement fund.

  • Tickets are purchased on the basis of one person per seat. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the next adjacent seat for the duration of the performance. Anyone aged 2 and over must have a paid ticket. Under 2s go free, except for shows aimed specifically for early years (0-5 years).  We accept no responsibility for any unaccompanied children and reserve the right to refuse entry if the performance is not appropriate for the child.

  • Unless otherwise specified any child under the age of 2 can sit on the lap of the accompanying adult.  This does not include the front rows of the tiers for safety reasons.   A limited number of booster seats are available for children on their own seat in the stalls.  Booster seats are not permitted in the tiers for safety reasons.

  • If you order a physical ticket to collect at Box Office (COBO) you will incur a £1.00 Physical Ticket Fee per transaction – this will be free for our Members.  If you require your tickets to be posted this will incur a £3.00 fee which will include the cost of the postage and the Physical Ticket Fee.

Refunds and exchanges

  • All tickets purchased are non-refundable. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that tickets received are correct at point of purchase. When you receive your tickets, please ensure they match your requirements. If you have any queries, contact us on 01484 430528 or via info@thelbt.org

  • If your ticket is for a sold-out event, we will attempt to re-sell it on your behalf, if we do so you will not be refunded the transaction fee of £2.50.

  • We will exchange tickets for an alternative of the same performance, if we are notified prior to the start time of the ticket to be exchanged.  This is only applicable if an alternative date or time is available and will be exchanged for an additional transaction fee of £2.50.

  • We will refund tickets if the performance has been cancelled. We regret that tickets cannot be refunded due to adverse weather conditions if the performance goes ahead.

Concessions and other reductions

  • Where reduced price tickets are available, proof of entitlement will be required at the time of purchase and on entry. We reserve the right to charge the standard ticket price where proof cannot be provided.

  • Persons attending as an Essential Companion are responsible for assisting in the safety of their dependent in the event of an evacuation or other emergency situation. In the event of an emergency evacuation use of a lift is prohibited.  It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the tickets purchased are appropriate for their physical abilities.  Please contact us if you require any advice prior to booking on 01484 430528 or via info@thelbt.org as tickets cannot be refunded.

Terms of admittance

  • The time stated on your ticket is the time of the performance. Our bar opens one hour before the performance starts – access to the auditorium is usually 30 minutes before curtain-up.  If you arrive after a performance has begun, you may be asked to wait until a suitable break before taking your seats to avoid disturbing fellow audience members and artists – breaks are decided by the production company.  Some companies do not allow latecomers, in this case a refund is not available.

  • Where a customer has purchased a ticket unsuitable for their physical needs, we will always aim to move the patron to the best available seat.  If alternative seats are unavailable, we reserve the right to refuse entry, and a refund will not be provided.

  • We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for drunk, disorderly or abusive behaviour. We uphold the Sale of Alcohol Licensing Act 2003 and require ID for those under the age of 25 years.  No alcohol or illegal substances may be brought into the venue. Only alcohol purchased from the venue may be consumed onsite.  Any patrons who appear inebriated or under the influence of drugs, are unruly, or disrespectful to others will be asked to leave and will not be entitled to a refund, where necessary we will contact the police.

  • For the safety and enjoyment of all our patrons, we reserve the right to refuse admission and/or re-admission, or request that a customer leave a performance.  We encourage patrons to be mindful of others around them and ask that any child causing a disturbance be taken to a quiet space.
  • Customers are not permitted to bring animals to the venue, with the exception of guide, assistance, and hearing dogs.

  • The taking of photographs, videos and sound recordings is not permitted in the auditorium, unless otherwise stated.  Where found to breach this you will be asked to delete the material and may be asked to leave at our discretion.

Changes to advertised events

  • Event information and pricing is accurate at the time of publishing. The theatre reserves the right to amend details as required, including performing artists. Performance duration times given are approximate, and the theatre does not hold responsibility for these timings being different than advertised.  If you choose to leave of your own accord (for any reason), a refund will not be given.

Dancing during seated music events

  • We love music and hosting music events and understand that with good music comes dancing, and sometimes this is encouraged by the performers on stage. We cannot control the artists who ask the audience to get up and dance, but as we are predominantly a seated venue, we have created these guidelines to help customers to dance considerately:

  • Remember that not everyone is able to dance, and they have purchased a seated ticket
  • If you would like to dance, please do not dance at your seats, please move to the aisles, sides or back of the auditorium but not on the steps – for safety reasons.
  • Please be considerate of the people around you, particularly those behind you.
  • You will be asked to move If you do not follow these instructions. Please be aware of other customers and if you are asked to dance elsewhere, please do so without resistance or argument.

Security on the door

  • We take safety very seriously, and will sometimes implement additional security measures, such as bag checks, where we reserve the right to confiscate any items that are suspicious, illegal, or considered dangerous. In these cases, we may also refuse entry, and, where necessary, call the police. We will also refuse entry to anyone who is behaving inappropriately, is unruly or rude to others, or appears to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.
