Many of us have real-life stories to tell, but what are the ingredients of a successful memoir? Ian Clayton discusses the challenges and rewards of memoir writing with Diana Darke and Clover Stroud.

Diana Darke's renovated historic villa is now a home to refugees. Her memoir, My House in Damascus, gives a unique and personal perspective of the ongoing Syrian crisis.

Clover Stroud's memoir The Wild Other is an uplifting story of struggle and survival, charting her journey after her mother suffers a terrible riding accident.

Ian Clayton is a writer, broadcaster and storyteller. He has published three memoirs: Song For My Father, Bringing It All Back Home and Our Billie.
